Many Voices for Darfur - Student Reflections

I was lucky enough to get my students involved with George Mayo’s and Wendy Drexler’s Many Voices for Darfur project.

Here’s a few of the reflections that I have received from my students.

I really liked being part of this project. I think it’s really helped raise awareness of Darfur and what’s going on there. It also made me happy that so many other students took part in this also. I was amazed to see that over 400 comments had been posted in just one day.Brittany R.

I was honored to be apart of this project. it taught me so much stuff that i didn’t already know about Darfur. I actually feel bad because I nor most of my family had any clue of what is happening in Darfur. I really enjoyed being apart of the discussion and I have plans to continue to be apart of the solution in Darfur.Krystal G.

I enjoyed this project. I got to learn a lot about a huge issue that I had unfortunately never heard of, using the message board was also a nice touch; it was interesting to see how my views compared to those of my peers. Another bonuses I got from this project was that I got to get my family involved since showing them the videos was easy to do. Finally, it was an easy way to knock out two projects. I think this was a great idea and would recommend you do a similar project for the students next year. =)Steven H.

I’m so lucky to be working with young people. They’re inspiring in so many ways. There may be hope for the future after all. I just hope I’m not letting them down.
