At Ed-Media this year I saw far more mentions of CyWorld than Second Life, reflecting the strong presence from South Korea and Japan at that event.
I'm actually more interested in the sites at the "low end" of the immersion scale shown in the TechCrunch article, as I think this is where the real action is, and I'd encourage education researchers to take a look there - its a little too easy to be seduced by the 3D blank canvas offered by Second Life (see my previous post and Peter Miller's response).
